NTC Day at the Drags -

Gates open at Texas Raceway at 6pm. The track opens for time
trials/testing at 6:30pm
Aug. 7th 2003, Thursday night is the date we race at Texas Raceway,
Kennedale, TX     1/8th mile track
$10.00 per person - 13yrs through adult, 12 and under are FREE
Contact   http://www.texasraceway.com/    for more information.

I will have my truck (99 white/puter GMC Sierra) near the fuel station,
near the finish line, with a Reher-Morrison banner across the front
window. Also we will have the Metroplex Muscle Car Club banner raised.
In this area we can all meet and get organized.

Each car will need to go though the staging lanes to get teched (very
basic,,,seat belts,,racer in long pants, mufflers) and their number assigned
to each car. Make your first timed run and then
join us in our meeting area.

Each car racing will need to check in with myself or another helper at
my truck to get your car number in a bucket before the first round to
win the door prizes. We'll add a club letter to your car so you'll get
your club's name announced in each race.

(UPDATED) We will pre-pick car numbers for each round for your
pairings.
**This race night is not meant to be a club rivalry race of
ANY kind,,this is a FUN evening event. The track will announce which club is
being represented when
you come to the starting line. We will be using a full bracket tree
to start each race.

Remember this is a bracket style race. This means that each car will
have a dial in time. A dial in time means this is the time the car will
run
through the 1/8th mile. You want to race and be consistent. This is a
format that anyone can win at, IF your consistent. So it's not at all about
who has the fastest ride,,,just about being consistant to your dial in time.
(If you need further
information on this, feel free to contact me at 682-518-1796 to discuss
it before you get to the track.) Once at the track, several or the
MMCC and NTCC members will help you with any aspect of a bracket
racing.

After the first round of races, we'll pull car numbers for some door
prize winners. The drawing winners will need to have run at least one
competitive round within our bracket. With each winning ticket drawn, a
Win or Loss ET slip will be needed with a corresponding car
number to claim the prize. All prizes are meant for the cars/drivers
that are racing. We'll give a few items away in-between each round
while we are determining the next round pairings.

IMPORTANT!!  The winners of each round need to stop at the meeting area
so the next round pairings can be made. Don't go to the
staging lanes until you're paired up for the next round!!!

Note......MMCC will supply cold drinks to the racers in the meeting
area, and a canopy will be there plus a few chairs.

We'll race until we have a winner!   Now for what will be given away:

         8 T-shirts, 3 hats and  2 banners from Reher-Morrison will
account for 13 door prizes.

Before the Semi Final round to keep some or all of the racers
around with us we'll draw for;
One C&D's Performance gift Certificate ($20.00)
One Real Performance Motorsports dyno certificate, 3-
pulls ($60.00)

          Then for the winner and runner up cars;

The winner will  have the choice of a $30.00 C&D's
Performance  gift certificate or
A Real  Performance Motorsports dyno certificate,
3-pulls ($60.00)
The runner up car will get which ever prize the winner
passes
on.
Also, the winner and runner-up will get a trophy from Texas
Raceway.

I hope this will be enjoyable for everyone. If all goes well this time
we'll lock down a format for future races if there's an interest. I
think if
we all do this right, we can draw a bigger crowd of cars in the future.

Here are the rules;

1.    Street driven / street legal cars only are allowed to race. You
must run with mufflers. If you want to bring a race car, please contact
Texas Raceway for more info!!  I'm sure we'd all love to watch anything
you want to run.
2.    We'll race ONLY club cars. I'd like to have a complete roster
before we get there. Otherwise, last minuters
will need to know somebody in a club to participate.
3.    Cars raced will need  DOT approved tires. DOT drag tires are ok
to
race with. Bottom line, NO drag racing slicks.
4.    Regular sleeved T-shirts and long pants (no shorts) and no open
shoes of any kind are allowed for the drivers competing.

5.    ANY CARS RUNNING FASTER THAN 8.60sec. = about 82 MPH MUST WEAR A
HELMET --- NO EXCEPTIONS!!!!
If you've ran on a 1/4 mile track at around 13 sec and 100 mph THIS
MEANS YOU!!!

Racing usually starts at 7:30pm (if anyone thinks they wont make it by
then, we should be able to delay our start
slightly.)  Kennedale does have a curfew in effect so we need to be
PROMPT!!

NO GLASS BOTTLES ALLOWED at the race track.

I DONT want this to sound so strict and make rules up but we need to
have a format so it'll be
more fun and fair for everyone. This is all flexible in the future so
please let me hear your thoughts.
I will be sending out a roster when we get closer to the race date
witha
copy of this e-mail. As of right now, this is our racing format.

Thanks for your time. I know we're going to have some fun.

Make sure those gas tanks are full!! We will meet at the Arlington Park-N-Ride located on the SE corner of I-20 and Park Springs in SW Arlington. Please be there by 4:45pm so we can gather for a short drivers meeting. Bring a family dinner or purchase food at the theaters snack bar. In case it is chilly bring a few blankets and of course lawn chairs,as many of us love to sit outside the cars. This is a family owned original 1950's drive-in theater shows only G-PG movies. Please be patient as we drive thru the gate,,,they only have one. *Also this year they have requested that  Bruce T. collect the canned goods just a few paces past the ticket gate as we drive thru,,,so hand your donation to Bruce and he will leave all the collection of cans at the front ticket booth this year. Again this year my wife and I in our black 1972 Chevelle will lead the single file row of cars/trucks on the cruise,,,,we will drive with headlights on at a comfortable speed of around 65mph. You are encouraged to bring portable radios as this is how they broadcast the movie sound (they have a few outside speakers). Also personnel two-way radios are great for comm. on
the cruise down---we will be on channel 3. We will have some maps for those
whom want one at the drivers meeting,,,but you will not get lost!! Again this year Wes S. has kindly volt. to act as a follow-up truck with some basic repair supplies and be at the back of the pack just in case anyone needs to fall out,,,he will stop and assist in anyway he can (Thanks in advance Wes!!). I know everyone is asking--what 2 movies,,,well Pirates of the Caribbean and Freaky Friday are them.
Looking forward to a fun evening out,,,,hope to see everyone. PS---we have some 60 vehicles indicating they are going between the MMCC,NTCC,SBC,DACC clubs.

Annual Fall Cruise
Ok guys---here is the scoop on the cruise:

Place:  Park & Ride at I-20 & Park Springs (same as the meeting place for the Brazos cruise)

Time:  We will need to leave the P&R no later than 9:00 a.m.  We should be done between 1:00 & 2:00

What:  We will cruise to Texas Motor Speedway for a tour.  We are booked for tours starting at 10 a.m.  Depending on the number of people, we may need to do 3 separate groups, they do the tours in groups of 24 people.  The rep at TMS said he may be able to get our cars in for a photo session in Victory Circle, I will find out more on that later.

Cost:  They have reduced the cost to $5.00 per person.

I will find somewhere close to the track for lunch & let everyone know.  We need to be at the track a little before 10 a.m. so anyone that wants to can meet us out there, or can cruise from Arlington.
