| Story:
Greg acquired his Garnet Red Camaro in 1999 and refers to it as “TAZ”.
Greg has added many "extras" to his car. His personally
added options include four wheel disc brakes, a Vintage Air 134A
A/C system, Energy suspension components, sub-frame connectors, Kenwood
sound system with 10 CD changer and Alpine AMP, larger front sway bar,
rear sway bar, and an original set of wood grain trim for the dash, glove
box, and ashtray. TAZ made
the 2000 Power Tour including the Elk City, OK, Tulsa, OK and Tunica, MS
stops. It was rumored that
TAZ actively participate in an impromptu burn-out contest in downtown Elk
City. It appeared the local
law enforcement officials informally sanctioned the event as they allowed
it to go on for some time until some people got a little crazy (one of the
local cars had an electrical fire). After
the Tunica, MS stop, TAZ came home for a couple of days and then made a
non-stop trip to the last stop on the tour in Panama City Beach, FL.
Overall TAZ logged 4,000 miles, averaged around 13MPG and only used
a half a quart of oil in the process.
The Vintage Air worked well along with the tranny that was finished
at 1:00 AM prior to the day of departure.
Greg said getting there would not have been possible without the
help of Larry (his tranny guy). |
