Story:
It has taken over 3 years to put
Fernando Duron’s previously unmolested Camaro back to shape.  The original owner from Tennessee had it in a barn for some time until it ended up in Dallas.  Fern is the second owner with only 1800 miles since the restoration started.  He had been looking for this type of first gen for at least 5 years.  The entire car was stripped and re done with a new SS factory options package plus a few of his own special modifications and touches.  The restoration is almost complete. Only the convertible top, deluxe door panels plus other minor enhancements should complete it next year.  The vehicle still has many original unmolested parts (about 30%).  Fern believes it’s best to leave that as is, because that is what gives it its character.

Fern restored the car with a Resto-Rod in mind to show, cruise and enjoy.  It is not a trailer queen.  Fern says one of the best features of this car is the way it rides.  The multi leaf springs and heavy-duty shocks, and coils really make a difference which Fern  confirmed during his run at the Texas Motor Speedway.  Fern says it looks and rides as good or better then the one they owned back when it came out in 67 and it’s sheer brutal speed surprises many. Fern believes the key to any restoration is to try to incorporate the best parts and finishes to original specifications.  The car won Super Chevy Street class this year and the Forth Worth 27th Annual Hot Rod Car Show along with 20 some trophies and plaques.
