Story:

John bought this car for $8900.00 in Mansfield, TX. in 1995. He wanted this car because it was a true RS/SS.  In 1998 the work frame off restoration began and the savings started to dwindle. The only thing that didn't change was some of the original body panels. He always wanted a candy apple car with a big block.  With the help of friends Bill Roy, Mike Dodson, and Jim Rachel kicking him in the tail here is what he has done.

It has 17" wheels, low profile tires, front disc brakes, 5 core radiator, multi leaf rear springs, heavy front springs, frame connectors, traction bars, line locks, and power steering. The motor is a 67 4 bolt main block, L88 crank and rods with ARP bolts, .030 over Speed-Pro forged pistons, Total Seal gapless rings, Comp Cam .556 lift 286 degrees duration 70 427 Square Port heads, Marlin Sharp roller rockers, Pete Jackson gear drive, ATI dampener, Edelbrock 2/4 Intake with 600 Carters, Mallory ignition, Hooker headers, Hays steel flywheel and clutch, Lakewood scatter shield, Muncie 4 speed transmission 12 bolt 4:11 Posi rear end.

John and his wife only drive the car on nice weekends. They can also be seen at some of the local shows. He likes the thumbs up he gets from people on the road. John says he doesn't know the horsepower of the car because he will never race it anyway.  But, he says “it does sit you down hard in the seat from 50 to 100”.  He reminds us of an old saying from Bill Roy, “50 to 100 saves parts and down time”.
