Story:

Tom found this recently restored (50 miles old) big block Camaro soon after
the September 11 tragedy.  The restorer started with a SS396 (X66)Daytona
Yellow/yellow interior rolling chassis from Garland and completed a subframe-off rebuild. A mild 427 with flat top pistons, 292 comp cam and Hooker super comp headers was chosen as the power plant. A Turbo 400 with a 2500 rpm stall converter and a 12-bolt 3.55 rear complete the drivetrain.

The firewall was shaved for esthetics causing the factory type a/c to be replaced by vintage air.  The decent body was blocked and then completed in a PPG color similar to Glacier Blue.  The interior was replaced with a black comfortweave kit.  Wheels are 17" Torque Thrust with 245/40's on the front and 245/50's on the rear.

Horsepower?  Although it has never been dynoed, Tom guesses that if the fuel mixture was right it should be close to 400 gross.  He looks forward to next year's Dyno Challenge to know for sure.

Tom realizes that a lot of Chevrolet enthusiasts will criticize the unoriginal aspects of his X66 car but just consider how many times can you drop the hammer down on a matching #'s big block?
