Car
was built in December 1968 and includes the original short rear
spoiler and 7000 rpm tachometer.
Chip
and Laura’s goal was to buy a numbers matching car that already
had complete paint and interior.
Some of the things that they have done to the car since they
got it include rebuilt front and rear suspension, all new body
bushings, rebuilt the transmission and had a new Center Force dual
friction clutch and 11" flywheel installed.
Under the hood they replaced the starter, upgraded the
alternator to 100 amps, upgraded to a 4 core radiator, rebuilt the
Holley carburetor and all the necessary general maintenance.
As you can see they also have done a lot of detail work both
inside and out. They
found the car in Salt Lake City, UT, after looking for 6 months at
cars in Texas, Georgia and North Carolina.
They have the original protect-o-plate and even had the
opportunity to talk to the wife of the original owner.
Her husband passed away a few years ago, but even in her 70's
she remembered the car and the fun times they had driving it around
Tallahassee, FL. This
is their first muscle car, their next project will be to build or
buy a 69 Camaro Copo clone.
Chip
had a blast on the Power Tour and plans on doing it again next year.
Chip says “The Camaro Club is great for me because of the
wealth of knowledge from it's members and their willingness to help
out new members like myself.”
