Jay has wanted a
69 Camaro since he was 14 years old. In '93 he got a 69
Chevelle with a 350 2 bbl with 29,000 original miles
from the orig owner. He learned a lot about Chevy’s and
restoring them from that car. His goal all along was to
get that car finished and get a Camaro. After 7 years,
he sold the Chevelle and got on the hunt for a Camaro.
He looked at a lot of cars and finally found this one in
the Dallas Morning News from someone in Rowlett. He did
a little research and found the history back about 3
owners, most notable is Boris from Vintage Power in
Wylie. Jay’s has had the most fun with his car on the
Power Tour 2003. Jay was a little hesitant to go cross
country with it, but the car ran without a hitch. Since
Jay lives in Tarrant county, he gets a lot of questions
about the Deep Purple Metallic color and TCU, Jay
proudly tells them he went to UTA.
The only changes Jay has made to the car since June 2000
when he purchased the car has been to change the rear
gears from 3.73 to 3.08, and rebuild the front and rear
suspension so he could take it on the Power Tour. Future
upgrades include Corbeau Sport Seats covered in
houndstooth & black leather.
Jay has been rewarded for showing his car. Jay has won 3
trophies at various outdoor shows in the metroplex. |
