Since December
is the time for projects, I thought we would feature a
car that has really been through the restoration
process. First thing you should do is go check out the
featured car for December 2001, yes it is the same car.
Wow what a transformation! John started this awesome
restoration in January 2000. Since then he has sanded
down the car to bare metal, sent the car to the body
shop for the entire 2002 year and some of 2003. While in
the body shop both rear quarters, hood, upper valance,
and deck lid were replaced. While the front clip was
off, the correct big block engine mounts, new power
steering gearbox and correct big block heater core and
cover were all installed. The entire front sub-frame and
interior floor pans have been treated with POR15. All of
the interior is new (seats, door panels, carpet,
headliner and sail panels). The car was not “officially”
trimmed out and complete until Summer 2003. At this
years Dyno Challenge in July John turned 250 hp and 340
torque. Modifications still to be done include: front
disk brakes and a new Performer RPM package. John is
still thinking about period correct SS wheels. For

Great Job on your “project” John, it’s come along way
since December 2001! |
