Alan shares the story of his 1968
Camaro: I first saw this Camaro when a friend bought it in Plano in 1986. It was originally Ivy gold with gold deluxe interior. It still had the matching 327 and powerglide. He worked in the parts department at Heritage Oldsmobile in Plano at the time and began buying every part available from GM at the time. Around 1988 he lost interest and wanted to trade car and all the N.O.S. parts for a 1970 Nova SS that I had. We worked a deal and the Camaro was mine. Around 1989 I began to install the new GM sheetmetal which included quarter panels, rear panel, door skins, and complete front. After completing the bodywork the Camaro was put in storage in 1991 while I started my business. In 1998 I got an offer to sell the car to a friend who wanted to finish it for his daughter. I had other projects (69 convertible, etc.) so I sold it. Then in 2001 she was getting married and needed to sell the car so I bought it back for the amount she had spent on it. This time I vowed to finish it once and for all. I got busy and pulled the subframe, painted and rebuilt everything and got the car painted. | |
